Varun Gandhi is establishing a strong positioning for himself
I am not sure if Varun Gandhi is being advised by a marketing expert but he is surely establishing a strong positioning for himself as a “pro-Hindu” candidate bar none.
Positioning is a marketing concept which means how the customers (voters) perceive the products and sevices of the company (candidate) and how they think of your products and services (candidate). Positioning suggests that you have to find a gap in the marketplace. You have to distinguish yourself from others. To find and establish a good positioning, experts say that when everybody is going east, you go west. Also, that to gain something you have to lose something.
What has positioning to do with Varun Gandhi. Let me explain. Varun Gandhi has said in his speeches that he does not a single Muslim vote. He says he is absolute “pro-Hindu” candidate and will fight for the rights of the Hindus. By saying that he does not want even a single Muslim vote, he has given up Muslim votes to get Hindu votes. What most other people are saying that we are secular. They may hint that they are pro-Hindu but they also say that they want Muslim votes. I think that Varun Gandhi has come out even more strongly than Narendra Modi on the pro-Hindu-against-Muslim positioning. (Here I am not commenting on whether the positioning is correct or not)
I think Varun Gandhi has in a very short time established a very strong positioning and I would be surprised if he is not elected. Even if he is not elected, I think he will be a strong competitor in the Pilibhit constituency.
As reported in the newspapers, he will be in demand as a speaker by other BJP candidates as he will be able to attract crowds and fuel the pro-Hindu sentiment. Varun Gandhi has given his political career a strong take-off but a risky one. His future will depend on what Election Commission does and how Varun Gandhi strengthens his positioning without delivering hate speeches.
I would like to make it clear that I do not agree with the message of Varun Gandhi and how he has said it. There is no place for hatred in politics or in any other part of our lives. I am sure giving hate speeches is not going to take him very far. However, being a pro-Hindu and believing in all that is Hindu is neither illegal or immoral. Varun Gandhi needs to get his message and arguments more refined. Today, the key priority is how to get the country going in the right direction and how to improve the lives of all the citizens of this country and not a battle of caste and religion. Varun Gandhi should use Hinduism to solve problems and not to create hatred. A klu Kux Klan approach is not going to go very far. He may see some short term benefits but over the long term he has to think different.

Excellent post. Varun Gandhis hate speech is rightly objected to for the reason that it will cause communal disturbance during election campaign. But What the medias are doing? They have telecasted the speech umpteen number of times. Pehaps they wanted communla disturbances, both for their TRP rating and for serving yheir biased politics. Mr. Varun made one hate speech in one town of one of the 540 constituencies. This speech is detestable for many reasons. In addition this speech is also expected to raise religious animosity and to disturb peace. Hence it is all the more important to contain the effect of this speech to a smaller area. But no. It is too juicy for the media. Varun Gandhi spoke only once but your Channel has telecasted it a minimum of 100 times so far. Is it your attempt to spread the hate? Or is it your attempt to help the politcal parties opposed to Varun Gandhi, is spite of the risk of spreading hatered. If Varun Gandhi is guilty of making the hate speech, your channel is 100 times more guilty of the same crime. I am sending copies of this mail to Election Commmission and Election Watch organisations. I do hope some body, if not you, will take cognisence of your ‘crime’ and take steps to stop the same.
By the way, I am not a reactionery, right wing, fundamentalist BJP or any other sangh parivar. I am just a voting citizen of India.

You are absolutely right that by showing the hate speech again and again all over the country is going to raise the level of hatred. But TV channels are in the business of reporting news so how does one stop them. I feel that the law should be stictly implemented. If Varun Gandhi has made the speech, he should be punished as the law.
The problem with this country is that nobody worries about the law. Till date, no body has been barred from contesting the elections for violation of the law. So how does one start implementing the law all of a sudden as the same person is going to claim discrimination in the implementation of the law. We already have people who are saying that if Varun is barred so should Mulayam Singh Yadav and others. For instance, people have been caught openly distributing money. Why haven’t these people been barred from contesting the elections?

Just look at the Christians. They have invested all the revenue generated from their missionary services to build world class schools, colleges and hospitals. They have forced the rich Christian nations to contribute for the development of the nation. Whereas, these Muslim leaders have branded the entire community as dole eaters and vote bank. They have NEVER demanded rich Gulf countries like Saudi to invest in India for Muslim schools and hospitals in return for the millions of dollars of revenue they contribute through their annual Haj pilgrimage. Reason?. They don’t want Muslim money in Hindu land. These shameless crooks have been eating doles and filling their deep pockets in the name of Minority commission, Wakf board managers, Haj subsidies etc and in return they have completely destroyed the dignity, self respect and self reliance capability of the Muslim masses.
My conclusion is, the self styled Indian Muslim leaders and cronies hand-picked by Congress have completely ruined our identity. If i cry for my constitutional rights are jeopardised, it is purely because of the collective failure of the corrupt Indian Muslim leadership. I blame them directly and they have completely let down ordinary Muslims like me from living a peaceful life in my nation. They have crippled the entire administrative machinery and Hindu public from supporting or upholding or delivering any justice for us. Now they are trying to join the crowd and act like innocent peace loving Muslims after seeing the hard earned success of few individual Muslims. It is wrong to say that Indian government took silent revenge on Indian Muslims because of Pakistan. Pakistan is NOT responsible for the failures of Indian Muslims. The enemy is within.
The emergence of Hindutva has exposed the ugly under belly of Muslim leaders and has kicked them out of their comfort zone. Babri Masjid demolition shook the Muslim masses from their deep slumber. Gujarat 2002, rubbed the salt on their wounds. Mr.Varun Gandhi has very good reasons to make such hate speeches and i congrtaulate him for boldly breaking out of the pseudo-secular crap created by his fore fathers. We ordinary Muslim masses are secretly happy to see the uneasiness on the face of these so called Muslim leaders and he should do more in the interest of the nation but without violence or communal riots.
Mr.Varun Gandhi, peace be upon you and God bless in your noble mission to liberate Muslims from this slavery.

Mr Alamsha i dont know wheather you are a muslim are not. First of all we are a muslims. we never beg from other countries for our development. as a indian muslims we have a dignity and respect of our own. ofcourse today our condition is worst in economic and education. but we will emerge in future as strong and vibrant in all the fields. we dont need the wealth from gulf nation. we are more capable of generating the wealth on our own. just a varun gandhi speech is coward . to win the election he spite a venom on muslims. pakistan is not our land. india is our land we born here and we have to die here, ofcourse we proud of indians. but the newly born ideology of hindutva is rediculus. you should understand the diversity in india and the importance of muslim votes and also in future. from 2014 india undrstand the political changes . the muslim candidates in active politics will double . but indian muslims never treat the hindu brothers in polarisation. muslims votes for secular parties in large. but 80% of the secular leaders were hindus. indian muslims always stand for the secular nation. we are the true indians follow the constitutional values. for the political gains and for the polarisation bringing religion into politics are cowards. goverment for serving the people . not for doing religious work. if these communal forces want to do the religious work let them work on religious groups. why they need power. indian constitution have given all the rights to practice the religion. but these forces cannot fool the people in long term. today people are more graduate and intelligent. they knows the truth. what was the impact on babri masjid demolition and gujarath carnage. the result of these out come has all the muslims in india were united. indian muslims learned the lesson. and hardly it would emerge as a decisive power who should form government at the center. it emerged to vote as a bulk for a single party. indians not voting for who will form government. indians now voting for whom to prevent from forming the government. this is true. study the result of 2009 loksabha election
