What is wrong? What should be done?

I was right and wrong

I had stated when I started this website and blog that we need to vote for unknown candidates who are standing for elections as independents or those that are representing small unknown political parties. I had also stated that we will be able to find good honest candidates. I was right.

Today, Hindustan Times (HT) reported that most people are not aware of such candidates. It has also stated that “They are amongst the most educated candidates fighting the Lok Sabha polls.” HT has also commented, “Independent candidates and those belonging to the newly formed parties should have provided the perfect opportunity to make a difference.”

However, of late I have been thinking that my idea that we vote for such candidates is good but it will not solve the problem that we need to solve, that is, make Citizen of this country the “KING.” If the independents or people representing smaller new parties are not able to improve the situation, they will be voted out next time. It is a certainty that independents would not be able to do anything concrete because the government in power will not listen to them or their ideas.

This is also reflected in the HT article. People are more interested in voting for parties. They also want a stable government and not a fractured mandate. Independents do not fit into their scheme of things. Also, most do not have faith that an independent can win. As such, I think fighting an election as an independent is good symbolism but it is not going to achieve the objective that we want to achieve, that is, make the Citizen of this country the “KING” from its current status as a “beggar.”

So I have come up with the solution that the independents need to come together as a political party with a common agenda. I will be working on this idea. I am thinking of calling our new country management firm (read political party) as “Citizen is King.” If anybody has better ideas, do let me know.
